About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate Health Care Assistant to provide essential support to our nursing and medical staff at University Hospital Kerry. This permanent wholetime position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patient care while developing your healthcare career in one of Kerry’s leading medical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist nursing staff with basic patient care activities including feeding, washing, and mobility support
- Help maintain patient comfort and dignity while providing emotional support and reassurance
- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments to patients
- Support patients with activities of daily living including personal hygiene and grooming
- Help maintain clean and safe patient environments by following infection control procedures
- Assist with the transportation of patients within the hospital using wheelchairs and trolleys
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to qualified nursing staff
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by hospital protocols
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualification
- Previous experience in healthcare, patient care, or related field preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients, families, and staff
- Physical fitness to perform duties including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- FETAC Level 5 certification in Healthcare Support or related field
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting
- First Aid certification
- Understanding of infection control and health and safety procedures
