About the Role
We are looking for a reliable Hygiene Attendant to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene at University Hospital Limerick. This essential role supports patient care by ensuring all hospital areas meet strict infection control standards. You’ll be part of a supportive team committed to creating a safe, clean environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain hospital cleanliness standards across all designated areas including patient rooms, corridors, and common spaces
- Perform deep cleaning and disinfection using hospital-grade equipment and approved chemical solutions
- Follow strict infection control protocols to prevent healthcare-associated infections
- Operate cleaning equipment safely including floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, and specialized hospital cleaning tools
- Monitor and replenish supplies in patient areas, restrooms, and staff facilities
- Report maintenance issues and safety hazards to supervisory staff promptly
- Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to coordinate cleaning schedules around patient care
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualification
- Previous cleaning experience preferred, particularly in healthcare or institutional settings
- Physical fitness to perform cleaning duties including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Attention to detail with commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards
- Reliable attendance and punctuality essential for hospital operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare environment or institutional cleaning
- Knowledge of infection control procedures
- Familiarity with COSHH regulations and safety protocols
- Excellent communication skills for working with diverse teams
