About the Role
Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH), part of HSE South West, invites applications for a Midwifery Practice Development Co-ordinator. This pivotal role supports continuous improvement in clinical practice, professional education, and evidence-based midwifery standards. The postholder will work closely with the Director of Midwifery and multidisciplinary teams to promote best practice and high-quality care across all maternity services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate midwifery practice development programmes in line with HSE national policies.
- Support the implementation of clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate staff training, mentorship, and continuing professional development (CPD).
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Evaluate clinical practices and contribute to service audits and education strategies.
- Drive innovation in patient-centred care through research and best-practice dissemination.
- Participate in local and regional professional forums as required.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Midwife with An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (NMBI).
- Minimum five years post-registration experience in midwifery, including at least two years in an education or clinical development capacity.
- Proven leadership, teaching, and facilitation skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in education, leadership, or clinical practice development.
- Experience within large acute maternity or tertiary hospital settings.
