HSE South West: Kerry and Cork is seeking an experienced nurse leader to join our specialized Orchid Centre team at Cork University Hospital in Wilton. This permanent wholetime position offers the opportunity to lead nursing care delivery in a dedicated specialist unit, providing clinical leadership and management expertise in a dynamic healthcare environment.
About the Role
We are looking for a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 to take on a leadership role within the Orchid Centre at Cork University Hospital. This position involves overseeing nursing operations, leading a team of healthcare professionals, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in our specialized unit. You will report to senior nursing management while providing direct leadership to nursing staff and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage nursing staff within the Orchid Centre, ensuring optimal patient care delivery and staff development
- Coordinate clinical activities and nursing care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Implement and maintain clinical governance standards, policies, and procedures specific to the unit’s specialization
- Manage staffing schedules, workload allocation, and resource planning to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operations
- Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for nursing staff
- Monitor and evaluate quality indicators, patient outcomes, and service delivery within the specialized unit
- Participate in strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and service development
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as a Registered General Nurse
- Minimum 5 years post-registration nursing experience with demonstrated clinical expertise
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within healthcare settings
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, risk management, and quality assurance principles
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in specialized healthcare units or similar clinical environments
- Post-graduate qualification in nursing management, leadership, or relevant clinical specialty
- Previous experience as Clinical Nurse Manager 1 or equivalent leadership position
- Knowledge of HSE policies, procedures, and healthcare regulatory requirements
