Occupational Therapist, Senior – Adult Mental Health – Dublin North | HSE Dublin North City & West

The Health Service Executive (HSE) Dublin North City & West is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Mental Health Service at Connolly Hospital. This is a permanent, whole-time post offering the opportunity to contribute to community and acute mental health rehabilitation in North Dublin.

About the Role

As a Senior Occupational Therapist within the Adult Mental Health Service, you will provide evidence-based assessment and intervention to adults experiencing complex mental health difficulties. The role supports recovery-oriented practice within a multidisciplinary team in both hospital and community settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for service users with mental health conditions.
  • Plan and implement individualized treatment programmes promoting recovery and functional independence.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, person-centred care.
  • Support and supervise junior occupational therapists, students, and support staff.
  • Contribute to service development, audit, and clinical governance initiatives.
  • Liaise with community, voluntary, and statutory agencies to enhance service user outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HSE policy.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • A degree (NFQ Level 8) or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with CORU – Occupational Therapists Registration Board.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience, including substantial practice in adult mental health.
  • Demonstrated competence in multidisciplinary team working and recovery-focused care.

Preferred

  • Post-graduate training in mental health rehabilitation, psychosocial interventions, or sensory approaches.
  • Experience in community mental health or acute inpatient psychiatry.
  • Leadership and supervision experience within a clinical team.
