We’re seeking an Operational Database Administrator (ODBA) to join our Data Systems division in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, supporting mission-critical health applications that improve patient outcomes worldwide.
About the Role
As an Operational Database Administrator, you’ll manage complex Epic Systems database environments on InterSystems IRIS platforms, ensuring optimal performance, resilience, and data availability. You’ll work closely with development, infrastructure, and information security teams to maintain secure, compliant healthcare data systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and monitor production, test, and training database environments.
- Oversee database backups, recovery, upgrades, and disaster recovery plans.
- Configure and maintain performance monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Manage access controls, permissions, and encryption to meet compliance standards.
- Provide technical support during system implementations and upgrades.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on optimization and issue resolution.
- Document and automate routine database maintenance processes.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or STEM discipline.
- 2+ years of experience with database administration and scripting (e.g., Bash, SQL, Perl).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience managing Epic Systems environments.
Preferred
- Familiarity with Linux administration and Epic IRIS database tuning.
- Certifications in database administration or Epic technologies.
