Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) is Ireland’s leading pediatric healthcare organization, providing world-class care to children and young people. We are seeking an experienced Operational Services Manager (Grade VIII) to join our dynamic team in Dublin, initially based at CHI Crumlin with transition to our new children’s hospital upon opening.
About the Role
This senior management position offers an exciting opportunity to lead operational services across pan-directorate functions while playing a key role in the transition to Ireland’s new children’s hospital. You’ll work closely with clinical teams, manage administrative staff, and drive service improvements that directly impact patient care and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage operational services across multiple departments including reception, healthcare records, ward clerks, and digital health functions
- Deputise for the Director of Operations and serve as operational services lead for pan-directorate functions
- Manage and develop administrative staff through effective leadership, performance management, and professional development initiatives
- Drive service improvement projects that enhance patient access, business continuity, and operational efficiency
- Oversee resource utilization ensuring optimal efficiency and effectiveness across all allocated service areas
- Coordinate waiting list management and implement strategies to improve patient access and flow
- Lead change management initiatives during the transition to the new children’s hospital, supporting staff through organizational transformation
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Level 8 qualification in healthcare, management, or related field (minimum QQI Level 8 standard)
- 7+ years experience in relevant healthcare management role with minimum 5 years at management/leadership level
- Management and supervisory experience within clinical administrative settings
- Strong knowledge of health service policy, access targets, quality agenda, and Sláintecare understanding
- Proven project and change management experience with ability to implement improvements and innovations
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, with ability to build relationships across all organizational levels
- Proficiency in administrative software including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters qualification in relevant discipline
- Experience working with HSE organizations and other healthcare agencies
- Senior management deputising experience at executive level
- Clinical risk and quality management experience
