Patient Safety Incident Management, Quality Improvement & Data Manager (Grade VIII) – Carrickmines, Dublin

The HSE Dublin and South East Health Region is recruiting a Patient Safety Incident Management, Quality Improvement and Data Manager (Grade VIII) to join the Quality and Patient Safety Department based in Carrickmines, South Dublin.

This permanent, whole-time position plays a key role in supporting high standards of clinical governance and patient safety across the region. The postholder will provide leadership and oversight in the management of patient safety incidents, data analytics, and quality improvement projects, ensuring compliance with HSE frameworks and national safety standards.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you’ll work closely with clinical, nursing, and administrative colleagues to promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical ability, quality management expertise, and a commitment to patient safety.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate patient safety incident management processes in line with HSE Incident Management Framework (2020).
  • Develop, monitor, and report on quality improvement initiatives within the Quality and Patient Safety Directorate.
  • Ensure accurate data collection, validation, and analysis of incident trends, audits, and performance metrics.
  • Provide strategic support to the Director of Quality, Clinical Governance and Patient Safety in governance and risk management activities.
  • Manage quality and patient safety information systems, ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.
  • Support staff training and capacity building in patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Contribute to national HSE programmes, audits, and service reviews.
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies and contribute to accreditation and assurance processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold a third-level qualification in a relevant field such as Quality Improvement, Healthcare Management, Risk Management, or Data Analytics.
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in healthcare quality, safety, or data management.
  • Strong working knowledge of HSE governance and patient safety frameworks.
  • Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and learning systems.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and professional disciplines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, data visualisation, and reporting tools.
