The Health Service Executive (HSE) is Ireland’s national healthcare provider, delivering essential medical services to communities across the country. We are seeking a dedicated Radiography Assistant to join our Medical Imaging Department at Wexford General Hospital on a permanent wholetime basis.
About the Role
As a Radiography Assistant in our Medical Imaging Department, you will provide essential support to qualified radiographers in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic healthcare environment while contributing to patient care and supporting the radiography team at Wexford General Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified radiographers with patient positioning and preparation for various imaging procedures
- Maintain and prepare imaging equipment, ensuring all tools and materials are readily available
- Provide compassionate patient care and support, helping to ensure patient comfort during procedures
- Assist with infection prevention and control measures within the imaging department
- Support administrative duties including patient records management and appointment scheduling
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols and radiation protection measures
- Assist with equipment maintenance and quality assurance procedures
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction
- Physical ability to assist with patient mobility and equipment handling
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service environment
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience working with diverse patient populations
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the department
