Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) – Diabetes – Cavan Monaghan | HSE Dublin & North East

The Health Service Executive (HSE) Dublin and North East is inviting applications for the role of Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) – Diabetes, based in Cavan Monaghan Primary Care Services. This permanent wholetime position offers an exciting opportunity to lead diabetes care delivery within the community and primary care setting.

About the Role

As a Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) in Diabetes, you will deliver expert clinical leadership in the prevention and management of diabetes across the Cavan–Monaghan region. Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, you will promote evidence-based practice and improve patient outcomes through advanced assessment, diagnosis, and intervention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide autonomous, expert nursing care to patients with diabetes.
  • Lead and coordinate diabetes management programmes within primary care.
  • Conduct advanced clinical assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Promote health education and self-management strategies for patients and families.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Lead quality improvement and clinical audit initiatives.
  • Contribute to research, policy development, and professional education.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Be a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Hold Advanced Practice registration (RANP – Diabetes).
  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of nursing experience in diabetes management relevant to the role.
  • Possess a Master’s degree in nursing (or equivalent qualification).
  • Meet the standards and competencies for Advanced Nurse Practitioners (NMBI, 2017).

Preferred

  • Experience in community or primary care settings.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and leadership in diabetes care.
