About the Role
The Registrar in Emergency Medicine will work as part of a multidisciplinary team managing acute and emergency presentations. This role supports 24/7 emergency care services and involves clinical decision-making, supervision of junior staff, and participation in departmental audits and teaching.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based emergency medical care to patients presenting with acute illness or injury.
- Conduct clinical assessments, diagnostics, and treatment planning in the Emergency Department.
- Supervise and support Senior House Officers and medical students.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary case reviews.
- Engage in departmental teaching and continuous professional development.
- Contribute to rota coverage, including night and weekend shifts, as part of the hospital’s 24-hour emergency service.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council.
- Minimum of 2 years post-graduate clinical experience, with at least one year in Emergency Medicine or Acute Medicine.
- Proven ability to manage acute cases in a busy clinical setting.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred
- Membership or part-membership of MCEM/MRCEM or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Experience in trauma management, critical care, or pre-hospital emergency medicine.
- Research or audit experience in Emergency Medicine.
