About the Role
Letterkenny University Hospital, part of the HSE West and North West region, is seeking a Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join its multidisciplinary maternity and women’s health team. This role offers hands-on experience in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, contributing to high-quality service delivery within a teaching hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care in obstetrics and gynaecology, including ward, theatre, and outpatient duties.
- Assist in the management of obstetric emergencies and operative deliveries.
- Participate in the hospital’s on-call rota and multidisciplinary ward rounds.
- Support junior medical staff and medical students in training and supervision.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and records.
- Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and case reviews.
- Adhere to HSE and hospital clinical governance standards.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Medical degree eligible for registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
- Minimum two years post-intern experience, including time in obstetrics and gynaecology.
- Demonstrated competence in clinical and procedural skills relevant to the specialty.
Preferred
- Prior experience at Registrar or equivalent level in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Completed Part I of the MRCPI (O&G) or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Familiarity with HSE electronic systems and hospital protocols.
