Mayo University Hospital (MUH) is seeking a Section Officer (Grade VI) to join the Medical Workforce Department. This key administrative role supports medical staffing, workforce planning, and compliance functions within the HSE West and North West region.
This opportunity is open only to current employees of the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agencies, or other statutory health agencies under WRC Agreement 161867.
About the Role
The Section Officer Grade VI will lead and coordinate administrative and HR processes within the Medical Workforce Department, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to HSE policies. The successful candidate will play a central role in workforce data management, recruitment support, and process improvement across medical staffing services.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate activities within the Medical Workforce Department.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning functions.
- Supervise and mentor administrative staff within the section.
- Maintain and report accurate workforce and compliance data.
- Liaise with HR, Clinical, and Management teams to ensure service alignment.
- Prepare documentation, reports, and responses for internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and national standards.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Current employment within the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 Agency, or statutory health agency.
- Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and administrative management.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within a healthcare environment.
Preferred
- Experience in a Medical Workforce or HR Department.
- Familiarity with HSE systems and workforce planning tools.
- Relevant qualification in business administration, HR, or healthcare management.
What We Offer
- Grade VI (0574) salary scale effective from 1 August 2025:
€54,529 – €55,822 – €57,112 – €58,409 – €59,704 – €61,002 – €62,292 – €63,586 – €64,888 (LSI 1 €66,179; LSI 2 €67,471) per annum. - Specified Purpose Wholetime Contract.
