About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Dietitian to join our dedicated healthcare team at Mayo University Hospital. This senior-level position requires demonstrated high-level clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice to deliver exceptional nutritional care across diverse patient populations. You’ll work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team in a supportive healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nutritional assessment and clinical intervention for patients across all hospital departments
• Develop and implement evidence-based nutrition care plans for complex medical conditions
• Lead clinical nutrition protocols and ensure adherence to best practice guidelines
• Mentor and supervise junior dietetic staff and students in clinical practice
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals
• Conduct nutrition education programs for patients, families, and healthcare staff
• Maintain detailed clinical documentation and contribute to quality improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent qualification
• Registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
• Minimum 3-5 years post-qualification clinical dietetic experience
• Demonstrated expertise in clinical nutrition and evidence-based practice
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in both English and Irish (desirable for HSE positions)

Preferred Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Nutrition or related field
• Previous experience in acute hospital settings
• Leadership or supervisory experience with junior staff
• Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures
• Experience with electronic health record systems
• Continuing professional development in specialized nutrition areas
