We are seeking a Senior Genetic Counsellor with specialized expertise in Children, Adolescent and Young Adult (CAYA) Cancer Genetics to join our multidisciplinary team in Dublin.
About the Role
This senior specialist role focuses on providing comprehensive genetic counselling services within our CAYA Cancer Genetics program. You will work as part of an expert multidisciplinary team, offering genetic assessment, counselling, and support to children, adolescents, young adults, and their families affected by hereditary cancer syndromes and genetic predisposition to cancer.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert genetic counselling for children, adolescents, and young adults with suspected or confirmed hereditary cancer syndromes
- Conduct comprehensive genetic risk assessments and develop personalized management plans for CAYA cancer genetics patients
- Collaborate with oncology teams, pediatric specialists, and other healthcare professionals within the cancer genetics service
- Support families through complex genetic testing processes and interpretation of results in the CAYA population
- Deliver education and training on cancer genetics to healthcare staff and contribute to service development initiatives
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to research activities within the cancer genetics program
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences for complex CAYA cancer genetics cases
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Master’s degree in Genetic Counselling or equivalent recognized qualification
- Registration with the appropriate professional body for genetic counsellors
- Minimum 3-5 years specialized experience in cancer genetics, preferably with CAYA populations
- Comprehensive knowledge of hereditary cancer syndromes affecting children and young adults
- Experience in pediatric genetic counselling approaches and family-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced training or certification in CAYA cancer genetics
- Research experience in pediatric or young adult cancer genetics
- Experience working within multidisciplinary oncology teams
- Knowledge of current genomic testing technologies and interpretation
