We’re now inviting applications for a Senior Grade Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to play a key role in an expanding psychological services team based in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
About the Role
This is a permanent, whole-time opportunity (Section 38) within the HSE Dublin and Midlands region, offering a hybrid working model with an office base in Tullamore. The successful candidate will provide psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-informed interventions across Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, and Kildare.
As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will help shape the direction of a new service development under the guidance of the Principal Clinical Psychology Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive psychological assessments and interventions.
- Contribute to the development of a psychological service for the Person-Centred Wing, supporting innovative approaches such as Social Role Valorisation.
- Work in partnership with clinicians, service users, and families to achieve positive outcomes.
- Provide consultation, training, and support to staff and external partners.
- Participate in service planning, evaluation, and quality initiatives.
- Supervise trainee psychologists and contribute to professional training courses.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- An undergraduate degree in Psychology (1st or 2nd class honours).
- A postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or equivalent validated by the Department of Health.
- Membership of PSI or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Minimum of five years’ satisfactory postgraduate experience in professional psychology (with at least two years post-qualification).
- Proven competence in supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and Autistic adults with high support needs.
- Full clean driving licence and access to a car.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior post within disability services.
- Knowledge of neuroaffirmative practices, trauma-informed care, and Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS).
- Strong interpersonal, consultation, and team-working skills.

- Salary: €93,438 – €107,792 per annum (HSE Senior Psychologist Pay Scale, effective 1 August 2025).
