About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Senior House Officer to join our dynamic Emergency Medicine team at University Hospital Limerick. This position provides comprehensive training in emergency medicine within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment while delivering critical care to patients across the Mid West region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate medical assessment and treatment to patients presenting to the Emergency Department
  • Conduct comprehensive patient examinations and develop appropriate treatment plans
  • Collaborate with senior medical staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care
  • Participate in emergency procedures and resuscitation protocols
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation and patient records
  • Contribute to departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance
  • Participate in on-call rotas and provide 24/7 emergency medical coverage

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Primary medical degree recognized by the Medical Council of Ireland
  • Full registration with the Medical Council of Ireland (or eligibility for registration)
  • Minimum 12 months post-internship medical experience
  • Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Emergency Medicine or Acute Medicine
  • ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems
  • Commitment to pursuing emergency medicine specialty training
  • Multilingual capabilities beneficial for diverse patient population
