Sligo University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Senior House Officer for our Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department in Sligo, Ireland. Join our dynamic Obstetrics & Gynaecology team as a Senior House Officer at Sligo University Hospital, where you’ll gain valuable experience in women’s healthcare within our modern acute hospital environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive clinical care to patients in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department under consultant supervision
- Participate in emergency obstetric and gynaecological care in our busy acute hospital setting
- Conduct routine antenatal and postnatal care, supporting women throughout their pregnancy journey
- Assist in gynaecological procedures and surgeries as part of your medical training progression
- Participate in on-call rotas and emergency response teams for obstetric and gynaecological emergencies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including midwives, nurses, and specialty consultants
- Contribute to medical education activities through our Medical Academy partnership with NUI Galway
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Active registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) – mandatory requirement
- Relevant experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology – essential for this specialty position
- Medical degree from a recognized institution
- Strong clinical skills and decision-making abilities in women’s healthcare
- Excellent communication skills for patient care and multidisciplinary team collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in acute hospital environments
- Interest in pursuing specialty training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Familiarity with Irish healthcare systems and protocols
- Additional training in emergency obstetric care or related specialties
