About the Role
As a Senior Podiatrist with HSE West and North West, you’ll provide specialized podiatric care to patients across Donegal, working within our Primary Care Division. This senior-level position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on community health while advancing your career in Ireland’s largest healthcare organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive podiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with foot and ankle conditions
- Deliver specialized care for diabetic foot complications, wound management, and biomechanical disorders
- Conduct routine podiatric treatments including nail care, callus removal, and preventive foot health education
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams including GPs, nurses, and diabetes specialists
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation in accordance with HSE protocols
- Participate in community health promotion and diabetic foot screening programs
- Supervise junior podiatry staff and contribute to clinical mentoring programs
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Podiatry or equivalent professional qualification
- Current registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
- Minimum 3-5 years post-qualification experience in clinical podiatry
- Experience in diabetic foot care and wound management
- Full driving license and access to vehicle for community visits
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualifications in podiatric medicine or related field
- Experience working within the Irish public health system
- Additional training in injection therapy or minor surgical procedures
- Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures
- Bilingual capabilities (Irish/English) advantageous
