HSE Dublin & South East is seeking a dedicated Senior Radiographer (Sonographer) to join the Radiology Department at St. Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny. About the Role
As a Senior Radiographer (Sonographer), you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality, patient-centred imaging service in accordance with HSE standards and professional best practice. You will conduct a broad range of ultrasound examinations, ensuring the highest diagnostic standards are achieved. The role also includes deputising for the Clinical Specialist as required and contributing to on-call rosters.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of ultrasound imaging examinations in line with departmental protocols and national standards.
- Ensure patient safety and dignity at all times, maintaining strong communication and empathy skills.
- Support the training and mentoring of junior radiographers, students, and interns.
- Liaise with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals to deliver efficient and accurate diagnostic support.
- Contribute to quality improvement, audit, and service development initiatives.
- Deputise for the Clinical Specialist in Sonography as required.
- Participate fully in the departmental on-call rota and weekend cover as rostered.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all HSE and CORU professional standards.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent recognised qualification.
- CORU registration as a Radiographer.
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience, including substantial experience in diagnostic ultrasound.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Ultrasound (DMU, PgCert, or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a teaching hospital or acute care environment.
- Proven commitment to continuing professional development.
