HSE Dublin and North East is seeking an experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist for our Cavan/Monaghan Community Healthcare Networks. This specified purpose wholetime role offers competitive salary €63,279-€74,509 and the opportunity to lead specialized communication therapy services across two dynamic counties.
About the Role
As Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll deliver advanced clinical services within our Primary Care Speech & Language Therapy teams across Cavan and Monaghan. You’ll lead evidence-based practice initiatives while providing direct patient care across diverse communication and swallowing disorders. This role reports to the Primary Care Speech & Language Therapy Manager and collaborates extensively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead clinical assessment and intervention for complex communication, language, and swallowing disorders across all age groups
- Mentor junior therapists and students, providing clinical supervision and professional development guidance
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment protocols and care pathways for specialized populations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including GPs, nurses, occupational therapists, and community support services
- Provide consultation services to schools, residential facilities, and community organizations
- Conduct clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery
- Deliver training and education to healthcare professionals and community groups on communication needs
Essential Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy from a recognized institution
Registration: Current registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
Experience: Minimum 3+ years post-qualification experience in speech and language therapy with demonstrated senior-level clinical competencies
Specialization: High level of clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice across chosen clinical areas with relevant CPD completion
Skills: Advanced assessment and intervention skills, excellent communication abilities, leadership and mentoring experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced specialization in areas such as dysphagia, autism spectrum disorders, or neurological conditions
- Experience with electronic health records and digital therapy platforms
- Training and supervision experience with students and junior staff
- Quality improvement project experience in healthcare settings
- Additional qualifications in specialized therapy approaches or research methodologies
