About This Role
The HSE Dublin and South East is seeking an experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist for St Columcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown. This permanent wholetime position offers competitive compensation and the opportunity to lead clinical services while making a meaningful impact on patient care.
As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll provide advanced clinical expertise in assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders. You’ll mentor junior staff, contribute to service development, and ensure the highest standards of patient care within our multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead clinical assessments of complex communication, language, speech, voice, and swallowing disorders across diverse patient populations
- Develop specialized treatment programs using evidence-based interventions tailored to individual patient needs
- Mentor and supervise junior speech and language therapists and students in clinical placements
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists
- Maintain comprehensive documentation ensuring accurate clinical records and treatment progress monitoring
- Participate in service development initiatives and quality improvement projects
- Provide family and caregiver education on communication strategies and therapeutic techniques
Essential Requirements
Education: Primary degree in Speech and Language Therapy recognized by CORU (Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine)
Experience: Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in speech and language therapy with demonstrated senior-level clinical skills
Registration: Current registration with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist
Skills: Advanced clinical assessment abilities, excellent communication skills, and proven leadership capabilities in healthcare settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate specialization in areas such as dysphagia, neurological rehabilitation, or pediatric communication disorders
- Experience with specialized assessment tools and augmentative communication technologies
- Clinical supervision experience with junior staff or student placements
- Research or quality improvement project involvement within healthcare settings
