Role Overview

University Hospital Kerry is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Paediatric Feeding, Eating, Drinking, and Swallowing (FEDS) service. This role involves delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to children with complex feeding and communication needs, contributing to service development, and providing clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist assessment and intervention for paediatric clients with FEDS difficulties.
  • Provide clinical leadership and support to colleagues within the Speech and Language Therapy department.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care planning and delivery.
  • Contribute to service development initiatives, including policy formulation and quality improvement projects.
  • Engage in clinical supervision, mentoring, and training of staff and students.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in accordance with HSE policies.

Essential Criteria

  • Hold a recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Be registered, or eligible for registration, with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Demonstrate significant post-qualification experience in paediatric feeding and swallowing disorders.
  • Exhibit strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Possess the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Criteria

  • Postgraduate training or certification in paediatric dysphagia or related areas.
  • Experience in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Previous involvement in clinical research or audit activities.
