Key Responsibilities

As a Staff Nurse in Children’s Services at Sligo University Hospital, you will:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to children and young people across various age groups
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans for paediatric patients
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team including doctors, therapists, and support staff
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HSE standards
• Support families and carers during their child’s hospital stay
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice implementation
• Mentor student nurses and newly qualified staff members
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and health and safety regulations

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Relevant nursing qualification recognised by NMBI
• Experience in paediatric or children’s nursing (desirable)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to continuous professional development
• Valid work authorisation for Ireland (EU/EEA citizens or valid work permit)

Desirable Qualifications:

• Post-registration qualification in children’s nursing
• Previous experience in acute paediatric hospital settings
• Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures
• Additional relevant training or certifications
