About the Role

The HSE Mid West invites applications for the position of Staff Nurse (Critical Care) based in Limerick. As part of the hospital’s critical care nursing team, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in an acute and dynamic clinical environment. This role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive, patient-centred nursing care within the critical care unit.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain clinical documentation and adhere to hospital and HSE standards.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and contribute to audit and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols and health & safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered General Nurse with An Bord Altranais / NMBI (or eligibility for registration).
  • Previous experience in critical care or acute hospital settings is desirable.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adherence to professional codes of conduct.

Salary

According to HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025), Grade Code 2135 – Staff Nurse (General):

  • €37,288 – €55,477 per annum, with Long Service Increment (LSI) after maximum point.
