Staff Nurse (General) | Letterkenny University Hospital

Letterkenny University Hospital, part of the HSE West and North West health region, is inviting applications for the position of Staff Nurse – General (Grade Code: 2135). This is a permanent wholetime post offering excellent opportunities for professional development across a wide range of acute services.

Successful candidates will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in one or more of the following areas:

  • Emergency and Cancer Services
  • Medical, Acute Stroke Unit, and Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
  • Surgical and Theatre Departments
  • Gynaecology and Paediatrics

This recruitment campaign is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, compassionate, person-centred nursing care to all patients.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team within a dynamic hospital environment.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to professional and hospital policies.
  • Support quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives.
  • Participate in training and continuous professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered (or eligible to register) in the General Division of the NMBI Register.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality, and evidence-based practice.

Salary & Benefits

According to the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025), the salary for Staff Nurse (Grade 2135) ranges from:

€37,288 – €55,477 per annum, including Long Service Increments (LSIs), in line with Department of Health Circular 6/2025.
