The Health Service Executive (HSE) Dublin and North East is recruiting a Staff Nurse (Altra Foirne Imdhíonadh) to support immunisation and community health services across the Integrated Health Areas of Dublin North County and Dublin North City & West. This is a permanent, wholetime opportunity for a registered nurse committed to public health and preventive care.
About the Role
This Staff Nurse post sits within the Immunisations and Community Support team, delivering vaccination programmes and related public health nursing services to populations across Dublin North. The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated, community-facing team, contributing to national immunisation targets and the ongoing development of preventive health services in the region.

- Administer vaccines and immunisation agents in accordance with national protocols and HSE guidelines
- Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care for individuals and groups in community settings
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in compliance with NMBI standards
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members
- Participate in health promotion activities and public information initiatives relating to immunisation
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and audit processes within the team
- Adhere to HSE infection prevention and control policies
- Fulfil mandatory training requirements and engage in continuous professional development
Requirements and Qualifications

- Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the General division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Have the clinical and professional competence to carry out the duties of the role to the required standard
- A relevant post-registration qualification in immunisation or public health nursing would be an advantage
- Demonstrate strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a community setting
- Full driving licence and access to transport may be required given the community nature of the role
Salary
This role is remunerated on the HSE Staff Nurse (General) scale (Grade 2135), a 13-point incremental scale ranging from €38,166 to €54,956 per annum, based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026 (DoH Circular 2/2026). Long Service Increments (LSIs) of €56,592 are applicable after qualifying service and are not included in the advertised range.
Location
The post is based within the Integrated Health Areas of Dublin North County and Dublin North City & West, under HSE Dublin and North East. The role is community-based in nature, with services delivered across a broad geographic area spanning north Dublin city and county. Flexibility in relation to base location and travel within the area may be required.
