We are seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse (RNID) for our Ballytobin Services in Kilkenny, offering permanent full-time employment in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
About the Role
As a Staff Nurse at our Ballytobin Services, you will provide compassionate, person-centered care to adults with intellectual disabilities in our 24-hour residential setting. Working alongside our experienced multidisciplinary team, you’ll support individuals with varying needs, including high medical requirements and behavioral challenges, helping them achieve their personal goals and live fulfilling lives in their community.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop individualized care plans for residents with intellectual disabilities
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with medical protocols and best practice guidelines
- Monitor and document residents’ health conditions, progress, and any changes in symptoms or behavior
- Provide ongoing emotional and psychological support to residents and their families
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members including doctors, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists
- Implement behavioral management strategies and interventions as required
- Promote health education and encourage healthy lifestyle choices for residents
- Facilitate access to community resources, services, and social activities to enhance quality of life
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Current registration with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) as a Registered Nurse Intellectual Disability (RNID)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or equivalent qualification recognized by NMBI
- Minimum 12 months registered nursing experience (if qualified outside Ireland)
- Current Garda vetting clearance (essential for working with vulnerable adults)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities
- Specialist certification or training in intellectual disability nursing
- Knowledge of person-centered care principles and rights-based approaches
- Experience working in residential care settings
- Understanding of behavioral management techniques for challenging behaviors
