Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is a leading provider of support services for people with intellectual disabilities across Ireland. We are currently seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our team in Kilrush, County Clare on a permanent full-time basis.
About the Role
As a Staff Nurse specializing in intellectual disability care, you will provide high-quality nursing care and support to service users in our Kilrush facility. This permanent wholetime position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities while developing your career in specialized healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to service users with intellectual disabilities in accordance with best practice guidelines
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records and documentation
- Monitor and assess service users’ health status and respond appropriately to changes in condition
- Support service users with daily living activities while promoting independence and dignity
- Collaborate with families, healthcare professionals, and support staff to ensure holistic care delivery
- Maintain professional standards and comply with regulatory requirements including HIQA standards
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Degree in General Nursing or equivalent nursing qualification
- Minimum 1-2 years post-qualification nursing experience
- Experience or genuine interest in intellectual disability nursing care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to person-centered care principles
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in intellectual disability services or community healthcare
- Post-graduate qualification in intellectual disability nursing
- Knowledge of HIQA standards and regulatory compliance
- Experience with care planning and multidisciplinary team working
- CPR and First Aid certification
