Mayo University Hospital is seeking a dedicated and motivated Staff Nurse Mayo University Hospital professional to join the Emergency and Acute Floor incorporating Emergency Department (ED), Escalation, and AMAU services. Job Overview
As a Staff Nurse within the Emergency and Acute Floor, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care in a fast-paced acute setting. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and timely care to patients presenting through the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Assessment Unit.
This permanent opportunity offers both part-time and whole-time positions within Mayo University Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care in line with hospital policies and professional standards.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised patient care in acute and emergency settings.
- Work collaboratively with medical, allied health, and nursing colleagues.
- Participate in emergency response and escalation protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
- Support patient safety initiatives and quality improvement programmes.
- Promote infection prevention and control standards at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a General Nurse with NMBI or eligible for registration.
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of recent post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting within the last 24 months.
- Strong clinical decision-making and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned to the Staff Nurse – General (Grade Code 2135) pay scale under the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025) .
Current salary scale (1 August 2025) ranges from:
€37,688 to €54,928 per annum (incremental scale, plus applicable allowances).
