HSE Dublin and North East is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our Mental Health Services team in Cavan Monaghan. This permanent full-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in mental healthcare delivery across our community-based services.
About the Role
Join our specialized Mental Health Services team as a Staff Nurse, providing comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges in the Cavan Monaghan region. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team environment, reporting to the Acting Area Director of Nursing, delivering evidence-based mental health interventions and recovery-focused care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to service users with various mental health conditions across community and inpatient settings
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Administer medications safely and monitor therapeutic responses in accordance with mental health protocols
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions including de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation and clinical records in compliance with mental health legislation and HSE standards
- Support service users and families through education, advocacy, and recovery-oriented approaches
- Participate in case conferences, ward rounds, and mental health service planning meetings
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Current registration with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland)
- Degree/Diploma in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing or General Nursing with mental health experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in mental health services (newly qualified candidates with relevant clinical placements considered)
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act 2001 and relevant mental health legislation
- Current Garda vetting clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing
- Experience with specific mental health populations (adolescent, elderly, addiction services)
- Training in therapeutic interventions (CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based approaches)
- Previous experience in community mental health settings
