HSE South West is inviting applications for the position of Staff Nurse (General) within Older Persons Residential Services across Integrated Healthcare Areas (IHA) Cork North and East and IHA Cork South and West. Role Overview
The successful candidates will become part of multidisciplinary teams providing compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to older persons living in residential care facilities throughout Cork. You will play a key role in promoting dignity, independence, wellbeing, and quality of life while ensuring safe, effective, and professional clinical practice in accordance with HSE standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, person-centred nursing care to residents.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with professional guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, residents and families.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records.
- Promote infection prevention, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support residents’ independence, dignity and overall wellbeing.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and mandatory training.
Requirements
- Be eligible for registration, or be registered, with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as a General Nurse.

Salary
€38,166 – €54,956 per annum (HSE Staff Nurse – General Grade 2135 salary scale, 13-point scale, plus Long Service Increments where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.
