HSE Dublin and Midlands is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our Paediatric Emergency Department at Regional Hospital Mullingar. This permanent wholetime position offers the opportunity to provide specialized emergency care to children and their families in a modern, well-equipped facility.
About the Role
As a Staff Nurse in our Paediatric Emergency Department, you will deliver high-quality emergency nursing care to pediatric patients, working as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team. You’ll report to the Assistant Director of Nursing and play a vital role in ensuring safe, effective emergency care for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to pediatric patients in the Emergency Department
- Conduct patient assessments, observations, and implement appropriate clinical interventions
- Administer medications safely following pediatric protocols and dosage calculations
- Support families during stressful emergency situations with compassion and professionalism
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in clinical governance activities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, consultants, and allied health professionals
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols specific to pediatric emergency care
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 1 year experience in an acute hospital setting
- Professional knowledge of pediatric emergency nursing scope of practice
- Competency in nursing procedures, clinical interventions, and patient observations
- Experience in medication management and ward administration
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in emergency department or pediatric settings
- Post-registration qualification in emergency or children’s nursing
- Advanced life support certifications (PALS/APLS)
- Leadership or mentoring experience
