Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is a leading provider of support services for people with intellectual disabilities and autism. We are seeking a dedicated Tutor to join our team in Ennis, Clare, working in our specialized workshop instruction program to deliver educational and skills development programs.
About the Role
As a Tutor with Brothers of Charity Services, you will work as part of a collaborative team to develop comprehensive learning schemes and educational programs following national guidelines. This fixed-term wholetime position focuses on workshop-based instruction and skills development for people with intellectual disabilities, combining educational expertise with person-centered support approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and design specialized learning programs and schemes of work in accordance with national guidelines and best practice standards
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging educational programs tailored to diverse classes and individual learning needs
- Assess and monitor individual progress through systematic evaluation and comprehensive record-keeping systems
- Adapt and create educational resources and materials to suit varying abilities and learning styles
- Maintain professional development by staying current with subject area developments, new resources and innovative teaching methods
- Resolve conflicts professionally using advanced conflict resolution techniques and de-escalation strategies
- Empower individuals through supportive teaching approaches that build confidence and promote independence
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Third-level qualification in Education, Social Care, or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience in educational instruction or skills training, preferably within disability services
- Excellent communication skills with ability to adapt teaching methods for diverse learning needs
- Conflict resolution certification or demonstrated experience in managing challenging situations
- Current Garda vetting clearance (required for all appointments)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum conditions
- Workshop instruction background in vocational or skills-based training programs
- Additional qualifications in adult education, special needs education, or therapeutic interventions
