Successful candidates will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to help create stable and supportive living environments while promoting emotional wellbeing, personal development, and positive life outcomes for vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one therapeutic support for children and young people with complex behavioural needs
- Support young people displaying verbal aggression, physical aggression, and self-injurious behaviours
- Promote emotional regulation, wellbeing, and positive behavioural outcomes
- Maintain safe and structured residential care environments
- Complete accurate reports, care documentation, and incident records
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary support teams and residential staff
- Participate in flexible shift patterns, including sleepover shifts
- Support the implementation of trauma-informed care strategies and safeguarding practices
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years supporting children and young people with extreme challenging behaviours
- Experience working one-to-one with young people presenting complex needs and pain-based behaviours
- Residential care experience preferred or experience within a relevant health and social care environment
- Level 4 Diploma in a related health, social care, or residential care discipline (minimum essential requirement)
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline desirable
- Full UK or Republic of Ireland driver’s licence held for a minimum of 12 months
- Ability to obtain international police checks and satisfy Australian compliance requirements
- Eligibility to obtain the appropriate Australian work visa
