We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to join our Inpatient Trauma Rehabilitation team at University Hospital Waterford. About the Role
As a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in our Inpatient Trauma Rehabilitation unit, you will provide expert physiotherapy services to patients recovering from traumatic injuries. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based rehabilitation programs, helping patients regain mobility, function, and independence following trauma incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patients with complex trauma injuries to develop individualized rehabilitation programs
- Implement specialized physiotherapy interventions for inpatient trauma rehabilitation including mobility training, strength building, and functional restoration
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary trauma teams including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans based on clinical outcomes and evidence-based practice
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding trauma recovery and rehabilitation goals
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives within the trauma rehabilitation unit
- Supervise and mentor junior physiotherapy staff and students in trauma rehabilitation techniques
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution
- Registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
- Minimum 3-5 years post-qualification experience in physiotherapy with trauma rehabilitation experience preferred
- Specialized knowledge in trauma rehabilitation, mobility assessment, and functional restoration techniques
- Experience working in acute hospital settings with complex trauma cases
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualifications in rehabilitation medicine, trauma care, or related specialty areas
- Experience in inpatient trauma rehabilitation settings
- Knowledge of evidence-based trauma rehabilitation protocols
- Continuing professional development in trauma physiotherapy techniques
