Cork University Hospital (CUH), part of the HSE South West region, is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 2 to lead our General Adult Neurology Ward in Wilton, Cork. About the Role
As Clinical Nurse Manager 2 for Ward GA Neuro, you will provide strategic nursing leadership and clinical oversight for our dedicated neurology unit. This CNM2 position involves managing a multidisciplinary team while ensuring the highest standards of neurological patient care and maintaining operational excellence within the ward environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage nursing staff within the General Adult Neurology Ward, ensuring optimal patient care delivery
- Develop and implement nursing care plans specific to neurological conditions and patient needs
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including neurologists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists
- Monitor and maintain clinical governance standards and quality improvement initiatives within the neurology unit
- Oversee staff development, training, and competency assessments for neurological nursing care
- Manage ward resources, budgets, and staffing schedules to ensure efficient operations
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements specific to neurological care
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registered General Nurse with current NMBI registration
- Minimum 5 years post-registration nursing experience with neurological/medical ward experience preferred
- Previous supervisory or management experience in acute hospital setting
- Comprehensive knowledge of neurological conditions, treatments, and nursing interventions
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in Nursing Management or related field
- Experience in neurology or neuroscience nursing
- Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures
- Quality improvement and clinical audit experience
