About the Role
Join our dedicated healthcare team as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the Local Injury Unit at Bantry General Hospital. This permanent wholetime position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced emergency care environment, working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent clinical outcomes for patients with minor injuries and urgent care needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients presenting with minor injuries and urgent care needs in the Local Injury Unit
- Provide advanced clinical care including wound management, fracture care, and minor procedure interventions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including emergency physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals
- Implement evidence-based treatment protocols and maintain high standards of clinical documentation
- Support junior nursing staff through mentoring, supervision, and clinical guidance in emergency care practices
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of Local Injury Unit protocols
- Maintain professional development through continuing education and adherence to nursing regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as a Registered General Nurse
- Master’s degree in Advanced Nursing Practice or equivalent advanced qualification
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience including at least 2 years in emergency/urgent care settings
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner registration with NMBI or eligibility for registration
- Current CPR certification and advanced life support training
Preferred Qualifications
- Emergency nursing certification or trauma nursing qualifications
- Experience in Local Injury Unit or emergency department settings
- Leadership and mentoring experience with nursing teams
- Quality improvement project experience in healthcare settings
