Clinical Nurse Manager 2 – Infection Prevention & Control – Cork | HSE South West

We are currently seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 2 to join our Infection Prevention & Control team in Cork, leading community infection prevention initiatives across our healthcare network.

About the Role

This permanent wholetime Clinical Nurse Manager 2 position offers an exciting opportunity to lead infection prevention and control initiatives within our community healthcare services. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection control policies and procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical governance across community healthcare settings in Cork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead infection prevention and control programs across community healthcare settings, ensuring compliance with national and international standards
  • Develop and implement evidence-based IPC policies and procedures tailored to community healthcare environments
  • Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to nursing staff on infection prevention best practices and protocols
  • Conduct risk assessments and surveillance activities to identify and mitigate infection risks in community settings
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including public health physicians, microbiologists, and healthcare facility managers
  • Deliver education and training programs on infection prevention and control to healthcare staff and community partners
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of infection control measures through data analysis and quality improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Registration with NMBI as a Registered General Nurse with current PIN
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration nursing experience with significant experience in infection prevention and control
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in Infection Prevention and Control or related field
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership experience in nursing management or specialist clinical roles
  • Strong knowledge of infection control principles and evidence-based practices in healthcare settings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Infection Prevention and Control
  • Experience in community healthcare settings and understanding of primary care delivery models
  • Knowledge of HSE clinical governance frameworks and quality improvement methodologies
  • Experience with surveillance systems and outbreak investigation protocols
