We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Midwife Manager 3 to join our specialized maternity team at Cork University Maternity Hospital, Cork’s premier maternity facility providing expert care to mothers and babies.
About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic Clinical Nurse Midwife Manager 3 to lead our maternity services at Cork University Maternity Hospital. This permanent wholetime position offers an exceptional opportunity to shape maternity care delivery, manage clinical teams, and ensure the highest standards of midwifery practice in one of Ireland’s leading maternity hospitals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage midwifery teams within the maternity unit, ensuring optimal patient care and clinical outcomes
- Oversee daily operations of maternity services, including staffing allocation, resource management, and quality assurance
- Develop and implement evidence-based midwifery practices and protocols specific to maternity care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and support staff
- Mentor and support junior midwifery staff, facilitating professional development and continuing education
- Monitor and evaluate maternity service performance metrics, implementing improvements as needed
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, regulatory requirements, and best practice guidelines for maternity services
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registered Midwife with current registration with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland)
- Minimum 7 years post-registration experience in midwifery practice
- Previous management or supervisory experience in healthcare, preferably in maternity services
- Evidence of continuing professional development in midwifery and management
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in midwifery, management, or related field
- Experience in quality improvement initiatives within maternity services
- Knowledge of risk management and clinical governance in maternity care
- Experience with electronic health records and maternity information systems
- Understanding of health and safety regulations specific to maternity units
