Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – West Region is a leading provider of community-based, person-centered services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. We are seeking dedicated Staff Nurses and Enhanced Nurses to join our Athlone/Roscommon Adult Services team across Athlone, Kilteevan, and Roscommon Town. These are 2 permanent part-time positions offering 36 hours per fortnight with excellent career development opportunities in intellectual disability nursing.
About the Role
Join our multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive nursing care within our intellectual disability services in the Athlone/Roscommon region. You’ll work across various settings including residential, respite, day centers, and community outreach services, supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and autism to achieve meaningful, person-centered lives in their communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adults with intellectual disabilities in residential, day, and community settings
- Participate in person-centered planning and individual reviews to support service users in achieving their personal outcomes
- Manage medication administration, storage, and stock control in accordance with service policies and HIQA standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including occupational therapists, social workers, and support staff
- Support and train care assistants in medication management and carry out competency assessments
- Assist service users with personal banking and financial management following national guidelines
- Drive service vehicles and escort service users to community activities and appointments as required
- Maintain accurate records including individual person plans, care plans, and incident reporting through the AIRS system
- Promote community integration and maximize participation opportunities for individuals
- Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and maintain confidentiality in all matters concerning service users
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Current Live Register Certificate from NMBI (An Bord Altranais) – RGN or RNID qualification essential
- Full clean manual driving license valid for Irish roads (Class D1 assistance available if required)
- Demonstrated commitment to person-centered care and intellectual disability services
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in intellectual disability services or community nursing
- Understanding of HIQA standards and regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of person-centered planning approaches
- Additional qualifications in intellectual disability nursing
What We Offer
- Competitive salary: Staff Nurse €36,919 – €53,340 per annum (pro-rata), Enhanced Nurse €43,872 – €55,093 per annum (pro-rata)
- Long Service Increment available after 3 years on maximum scale
