About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist Paediatric Diabetes Galway to join our Children’s Services team. This permanent full-time position offers the opportunity to provide specialized nursing care to children with diabetes while working in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment at one of Ireland’s leading healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical care and case management for children with diabetes
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for paediatric diabetes patients
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including endocrinologists, dietitians, and family support services
- Deliver education and support to children and families managing diabetes
- Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives
- Mentor and support junior nursing staff in paediatric diabetes care
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service development
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 5 years post-registration nursing experience in children’s healthcare
- Demonstrated significant depth and breadth of experience in paediatric diabetes care
- Post-graduate qualification in Children’s Nursing or relevant specialty
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Nursing or related healthcare field
- Previous experience in Clinical Nurse Specialist role
- Experience with diabetes management technologies and insulin pump therapy
- Knowledge of national diabetes care guidelines and best practices
- Research experience in paediatric diabetes or related fields
