About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist Memory Clinic Galway to join our Regional Specialist Memory Clinic at Galway University Hospitals. This specialized role offers the opportunity to work with patients experiencing memory and cognitive challenges across neurology services, older persons services, and psychiatry of later life services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for patients with memory and cognitive impairment
- Develop and implement evidence-based intervention plans for complex cognitive cases
- Provide clinical expertise in memory clinic multidisciplinary team meetings
- Deliver specialized occupational therapy interventions for neurological conditions
- Collaborate with neurologists, psychiatrists, and geriatricians in patient care planning
- Mentor junior occupational therapy staff and students in memory clinic practices
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy with CORU registration
- Post-qualification experience in memory clinic, neurology, or cognitive rehabilitation services
- Demonstrated expertise in occupational therapy assessment and intervention for cognitive impairment
- Experience working with older adults and complex neurological conditions
- Strong clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice skills
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialized training in cognitive assessment tools and memory interventions
- Experience in Psychiatry of Later Life or dementia care services
- Knowledge of neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation approaches
- Leadership or mentoring experience in clinical settings
