About the Role

As an Addiction Counsellor Louth, you’ll provide essential therapeutic support to individuals struggling with addiction, working within our comprehensive healthcare framework. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group counselling sessions with clients experiencing addiction issues
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to client needs
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, social workers, and medical professionals
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and case management records
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment when required
  • Facilitate family therapy sessions and support group programs
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Counselling, Psychology, or related therapeutic discipline (Level 8 minimum)
  • Professional registration with IACP, IAHIP, or equivalent recognized body
  • Minimum 2 years experience in addiction counselling or substance abuse treatment
  • Knowledge of evidence-based addiction treatment modalities (CBT, MI, 12-Step facilitation)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current Garda Vetting clearance (will be facilitated if successful)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Addiction Counselling or related field
  • Experience working within HSE or public healthcare settings
  • Knowledge of dual diagnosis and co-occurring mental health conditions
  • Training in specialized addiction interventions (SMART Recovery, DBT)
  • Understanding of harm reduction approaches
