About the Role
As a Health Care Assistant in Sligo, you will provide essential support to nursing staff and direct care to patients in our dynamic healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding
- Support nursing staff with patient care activities and clinical procedures
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation as required
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and safety at all times
- Assist with patient transfers and positioning using appropriate equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas
- Support infection prevention and control measures
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in a healthcare setting (hospital, residential, community, or nursing home)
- Experience providing direct care to patients in a healthcare environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Physical fitness to perform manual handling and mobility assistance
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and public holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support qualification or equivalent
- Previous experience in acute hospital setting
- Basic life support training
- Understanding of infection prevention and control procedures
- Experience working with electronic health records
