Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is a leading provider of intellectual disability services seeking a dedicated Person In Charge (Social Care Manager 1 or Clinical Nurse Manager 1) for our Cork residential service. As Person In Charge, you’ll provide leadership and oversight for our residential care facility while ensuring the highest standards of person-centered care. You’ll manage daily operations within our specialized team and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary professionals to deliver exceptional support services. This role reports to the Sector Manager and requires strong leadership capabilities in a regulated care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead residential care operations ensuring compliance with HIQA standards and regulations for designated centres
- Manage care planning processes developing and implementing individualized support plans for service users
- Supervise care staff teams providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities
- Ensure regulatory compliance maintaining adherence to disability services regulations and organizational policies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including healthcare professionals, families, and external agencies
- Oversee budget management monitoring resources and ensuring effective use of allocated funding
- Develop quality improvement initiatives implementing best practices and evidence-based care approaches
Essential Qualifications
Education & Professional Requirements:
- Level 7/8 qualification in Social Care, Nursing, or related discipline
- Registration with relevant professional body (Social Care Ireland or NMBI)
- Minimum 3 years experience in disability services with 2 years in supervisory role
- Person In Charge certification or willingness to complete within specified timeframe
Core Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of disability legislation and HIQA standards
- Experience with person-centered planning and rights-based approaches
- Leadership and team management capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced qualifications in disability services or healthcare management
- Experience with Sage Intellinote or similar care management systems
- Previous experience in residential care management roles
- Training in positive behavior support and safeguarding
Benefits & Compensation
Salary Range: ā¬55,793 – ā¬65,155 annually (Social Care Manager 1 scale – Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales 2025)

Location & Work Environment
This role is based in Cork City/Suburbs within our modern residential facility. The position involves shift work including evenings and weekends as part of our 24/7 care operation. Full training and induction support will be provided.
