Senior Occupational Therapist – Palliative Care – Meath | HSE

About the Role

As Senior Occupational Therapist in Palliative Care, you’ll provide expert therapeutic interventions to patients and families facing life-limiting conditions. You’ll lead clinical assessments within our multidisciplinary palliative care team while mentoring junior staff and driving quality improvement initiatives. This role reports to the Occupational Therapy Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for palliative care patients
  • Develop and implement personalized therapeutic intervention plans
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, nurses, and social workers
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior occupational therapists
  • Ensure compliance with CORU registration requirements and professional standards
  • Develop community-based rehabilitation programs for palliative care patients
  • Participate in quality assurance and clinical governance activities

Essential Qualifications

Education: Degree in Occupational Therapy from recognized institution Experience: 3+ years post-qualification clinical experience in occupational therapy Registration: Current registration with CORU Occupational Therapists Register Skills: Advanced clinical assessment abilities and therapeutic intervention expertise Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for sensitive patient interactions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized training or experience in palliative care settings
  • Experience with CORU annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate processes
  • Clinical supervision or mentoring experience
  • Knowledge of community-based rehabilitation approaches
  • Additional qualifications in pain management or end-of-life care
