HSE Dublin and North East is seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our specialized Palliative Care team in Meath. This full-time role offers the opportunity to lead therapeutic interventions and make a meaningful impact in end-of-life care.
About the Role
As a Senior Occupational Therapist in Palliative Care, you’ll provide expert therapeutic assessment and intervention for patients with life-limiting conditions. You’ll work within our multidisciplinary team to enhance quality of life and support patients and families through their palliative care journey. This senior position offers clinical leadership opportunities and professional development in this specialized field.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for palliative care patients
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for complex cases
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior therapy staff
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary palliative care teams including doctors, nurses, and social workers
- Conduct family and carer education sessions on adaptive equipment and techniques
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in case reviews
Essential Qualifications
Professional Requirements:
- Registration: Current or eligible for registration with CORU (Occupational Therapists Registration Board)
- Experience: Minimum 3 years full-time post-qualification clinical experience
- Knowledge: Extensive understanding of occupational therapy principles in palliative care settings
- Skills: Excellent clinical assessment and intervention skills with complex patient presentations
Ongoing Requirements:
- Maintain annual CORU registration
- Complete annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)
- Demonstrate continued professional development in palliative care
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialized training or certification in palliative care
- Experience with end-of-life care and bereavement support
- Leadership or supervisory experience in healthcare settings
- Post-graduate qualifications in occupational therapy or related field
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications for palliative patients

Salary Range: €63,279 – €74,509 per annum (HSE Grade 3301)
