HSE West and North West is seeking a dedicated Senior Physiotherapist to join our specialized Lymphoedema team in Donegal. This permanent wholetime position offers the opportunity to provide expert care in lymphatic drainage and management while advancing your career in specialized healthcare.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Physiotherapist to deliver specialized lymphoedema assessment, treatment, and management services across our Donegal region. You’ll work within our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for patients with lymphatic conditions, utilizing advanced therapeutic techniques and evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive lymphoedema assessments using specialized evaluation techniques and measurement protocols
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for complex lymphatic conditions and post-surgical complications
- Provide manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, and advanced lymphoedema management techniques
- Deliver patient education on self-management strategies, skin care, and compression garment usage
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncology, vascular surgery, and community care professionals
- Supervise and mentor junior physiotherapy staff in lymphoedema treatment methodologies
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in outcome measurement for lymphoedema services
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives within the lymphoedema clinic
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Physiotherapy recognized by CORU (Council for Health and Social Care Professionals)
- Current registration with CORU as a Physiotherapist
- Minimum 2-3 years post-qualification experience in physiotherapy practice
- Specialized training and certification in lymphoedema management and manual lymphatic drainage
- Experience in compression therapy and lymphatic system assessment
- Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills specific to lymphatic conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in lymphoedema management or related specialized area
- Experience working in oncology, vascular, or post-surgical rehabilitation settings
- Knowledge of wound care management in relation to lymphatic complications
- Training in advanced compression techniques and garment fitting
- Experience in community-based lymphoedema services
- Leadership or supervisory experience in healthcare settings
