About the Role
This Clinical Nurse Manager 2 position specializes in Safe Staffing Coordination, a critical function ensuring appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios and optimal staff deployment across Cork University Hospital. The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Director of Nursing and play a vital role in maintaining safe, effective patient care through strategic staffing management and coordination within the acute healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead safe staffing coordination across multiple departments ensuring optimal nurse-to-patient ratios and compliance with safe staffing frameworks
- Develop and implement staffing strategies that balance patient acuity, staff competency, and resource availability within the acute hospital environment
- Monitor and analyze staffing data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in safe staffing practices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing management, medical staff, and hospital administration to optimize staffing solutions
- Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to nursing staff while maintaining focus on safe staffing principles and patient safety outcomes
- Coordinate with recruitment teams to address staffing shortfalls and support strategic workforce planning initiatives
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements related to safe staffing and patient care delivery
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 5 years post-registration nursing experience in acute hospital settings
- Previous experience in nursing management, workforce coordination, or safe staffing roles
- Strong understanding of safe staffing frameworks, patient acuity systems, and healthcare workforce management
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills with proven ability to work in fast-paced healthcare environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in nursing management, healthcare management, or related field
